Born in 1947 and living in Ireland since 1998, Mr. R. Kat studied mechanical engineering on the Hendrik de Keyser college in Amsterdam, after his study he owned a successful business in car parts. During this business he started to invest in real estate in the bigger Amsterdam region. In a couple of years Mr. R. Kat had build up a significant portfolio which consisted of both retail and residential real estate. Visiting Bonaire for the first time in 1988 he instantly fell in love with the island. Seeing the potential of the island right away he started developing residential and touristic real estate, with doing that being one of the first successful foreign developers on this beautiful island. Since then he is the initiator and partner in multiple developments on Bonaire.
